The Mysteries and Traditions Association was founded in February 1997 on strong demand of the population of Campobasso with the intent of proposing a strong invitation to the attention of all: “the Mysteries belong to everybody and everybody has the right-duty to make them expand”. Historical testimonies report that Congregations and Associations were, in the past, committed to the management and protection of the historical and cultural patrimony of the Mysteries. Today our Association intends to continue with the same spirit and passion, comforted also by the confidence that the Municipal Administration and the Molise Region have always given to us. The main goal is to involve everybody, with the consciousness that this tradition of ours has by now reached the nation’s boundaries also thanks to the procession of the Mysteries held in St. Peter’s square in Rome in occasion of the Angelus on 27th of June 1999. More recently, after detailed searches on the original features of the Mysteries, the Association has remade all the costumes, has conducted an initial study on the metallography of the structures of the “Machines of Mysteries”, has participated in several cultural and non cultural events, also beyond the regional boundaries and has promoted the establishment of the Mysteries’ Museum, extremely desired from everybody.
